A Bear Track Outfitters morning starts with breakfast at around
8:00 am to 9:00 am. Some of our hunters prefer to fish while other
hunters will accompany the guides on their morning bait run, checking
the previous evening's activities at the bait sites. When the
baiting is finished we meet back at camp to discuss our optionis
and strategies for the evening hunt. At approx. 2:00pm we eat
a superb home-cooked meal, then we gather our gear and head off
to the bait sites.
Each afternoon your guide will take you to your stand. Most
archery hunting is done from 12-15 feet high tree stands situated
12-15 yards from the bait site. Tree-stands for our rifle hunters
are usually located about fifty yards from the bait. We try to
check each hunter every 2-3 hours. When hunting off the lake, we use binoculars to check our hunters to see if they've left a signal marker on the shoreline to signal a shot has been made, to ensure we do not disturb our hunters during their hunt. We also use
a pre-planned system of indicating success. When our hunter moves
to a trail, or hangs a pail in a tree as a signal - we go in and
track your bear if necessary, do some back slapping and take a
few moments for your photo shoot.
Your guide will take care of the skinning. Naturally any helping
hand is appreciated, particularly with the big, heavy bruins that
we like to take. Many of our guests want to take some of the meat
home and we will handle that job for you too. Sit back and enjoy
the moment. You are building memories and we are privileged to
share them with you.
After you've shot your bear, many of our hunters swap their bow
or rifle for a fishing rod. Another enjoyable activity is videoing
bears . We leave that choice of entertainment up to you. At the
end of each evening, Jeannine will prepare soup and sandwiches
to cap off your evening hunt.
